As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a shelter. We always welcome new foster homes. We take care of all medical costs, and food and litter if needed. If you are interested in helping, please visit our contact page.

About Us

Begun in 2011 by Nicola Ransom-Brown, Uxbridge Cat Rescue has found loving, permanent homes for hundreds of rescued cats and kittens.

The cats we rescue are usually homeless through no fault of their own. Some have been surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them, some have been abandoned or rescued from neglectful situations, and others come to us through shelters or other rescue groups. These cats are often frightened, stressed, and need the one-on-one care that a foster home can provide.

Once in our program, cats are assessed, provided with any needed medical attention, and placed in loving foster homes. Nicola works closely with the foster parents to monitor each cat’s progress, and provides support whenever needed. When we have a good idea of a cat’s personality and needs, the cat’s profile is posted on Petfinder and Facebook and, if the cat is comfortable in a store situation, it is brought to Pet Valu where potential adopters can meet them. Many cats and kittens enjoy their time at the store, and it gives them valuable socialising experience.

To promote responsible pet ownership, all of our rescue cats are spayed or neutered. In the case of younger kittens, we ask for a commitment from the new owners to have the kittens spayed or neutered when they have reached the appropriate age.

Like other rescue groups, our work relies on the generosity of our volunteers and the public. We ask adopters for a standard adoption fee which helps fund our extensive vet costs and rescue work. We also do fundraising events and gratefully accept donations.

We love to keep in touch with adoptive families, and are thrilled to receive photos and updates of the cats as they settle in to their new homes and families. What a joy to see a cat that was once terrified and miserable now relaxed and happy in a loving home!
